Will Obama Raise Your Taxes?

04/23/2013

President Obama has insisted that he wants to raise taxes only on "the rich", or on "millionaires and billionaires".

However, even the more liberal news media are now pointing out that Obama's proposed budget would increase taxes on people with quite modest incomes.

You can read the details at the website of the Tax Policy Center.  Go to their Analysis of President Obama's FY2014 Budget, then to the Distributional Analysis.

Remembering Howard Phillips

04/23/2013

As a valued supporter of The Conservative Caucus, I wanted to let you know that TCC's founder, and my dear friend, Howard Phillips, passed on peacefully over the weekend at the age of 72.

Howard was one of the first conservative lions, one of the first people to stand up and fight for small government values, at a time when being a principled conservative wasn't popular in either party.

Back in the 1970s, the Republican Party was shifting farther and...

Washington Post Says Its Time to Give Up on Protecting the Border with Mexico

04/23/2013

Poll after poll has shown that Americans give more support to closing off the Mexican border to illegal immigration than to amnesty.  Even many of those who support amnesty make border security an equal or higher priority.  This is a major potential problem for supporters of amnesty, despite their best efforts to twist the facts and claim that the border is now tightly secured.

Phillips formed The Conservative Caucus (TCC) in 1974 to provide conservatives with a nationwide grass roots organization, in contrast to the...

Yesterday (March 21) Congress passed a continuing resolution to keep the Federal government operating through the end of the fiscal year (Sept. 30).  The resolution locks in the lower overall spending of the sequester, while providing some flexibility to move funds from lower to higher priorities.

Next comes the conflict between the House and Senate budgets, with the House accepting Obama's 2010 and 2012 tax increases while the Senate demands still more...

Washington Post Admits Mexican Border Is Not Secure

03/22/2013

A front-page story in the Washington Post has undermined claims that the U.S. Border with Mexico is secure, and that an amnesty will not lead to further illegal immigration.

A March 18 story by Pamela Constable (A Familiar Front Line in Border Fight) quotes Arizona rancher John Ladd saying, "No matter what they say in Washington, the border is not secure."

The article makes the point that while fewer people are now trying to cross the border as illegal...
