Conservatives Tell Trump to Declare Emergency, Build Wall

Conservatives say President Trump should invoke current law by proclaiming a national emergency and reallocating appropriated funds to begin building a wall along the Mexican border, according to a poll conducted by The Conservative Caucus (TCC).  Almost 88% favor using the emergency option.

The poll did show some disagreement on timing, with 63.4% saying that Trump should wait until February 15 to see if Congress provides the money.  Another 24.4% say that Trump should declare the emergency without further delay.

Shutting down the government again was the choice of 9.6%, while 1.5% want to accept the decision of Congress and 1% are ready to give up on the wall.

Peter Thomas, Chairman of TCC, said that the need for a wall along portions of the border is obvious, and recognized by the Border Patrol agents on the spot.  Liberals, some of whom have called for open borders and the abolition of ICE, should accept the facts and drop their opposition.

The Conservative Caucus is a grass roots public policy action organization, formed in 1974.  It was active in defeating the SALT II Treaty, repealing the Catastrophic Coverage Act, blocking the Clinton health-care takeover, impeaching President Clinton, stopping amnesty for illegal aliens, persuading the House of Representatives to sue the President regarding ObamaCare, and promoting the confirmation of Justice Kavanaugh.

The Conservative Caucus, a project of Americans for Constitutional Liberty, is a public policy organization, contributions to which are not tax deductible. The IRS has determined ACL to be a 501(c)(4) organization, exempt from Federal income tax. Contributions to ACL are not subject to FEC regulation or disclosure requirements, and corporate donations are permitted.
