No Lawbreakers in the Cabinet

Peter Thomas, Chairman of The Conservative Caucus, today called on the US Senate to reject the nomination of Alejandro Mayorkas for secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

“Any senator who values the rule of law must vote no on the Mayorkas nomination”, said Thomas.

He pointed out that Mayorkas, as deputy secretary of DHS under Barack Obama, played a key role in designing and implementing the Deferrred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) even though Congress had repeatedly failed to enact such a program.  Not only did DACA provide protection against legally-mandated deportation, it directly violated Federal law by authorizing these illegal aliens to take jobs away from Americans and green card holders.

“A senator who votes to confirm Mayorkas, a man who is prepared to go beyond even the Obama administration in defying Federal law, is abdicating his responsibility as a legislator and knowingly empowering the Biden administration to usurp the lawmaking power of Congress” Thomas pointed out.

The Conservative Caucus is a grassroots public policy action organization, formed in 1974.  It was active in defeating the SALT II Treaty, repealing the Catastrophic Coverage Act, blocking the Clinton health-care takeover, securing the impeachment of President Clinton by the House of Representatives, stopping amnesty for illegal aliens, persuading the House of Representatives to sue President Obama regarding ObamaCare, and promoting the confirmation of Justices Kavanaugh and Barrett.

The Conservative Caucus, a project of Americans for Constitutional Liberty, is a public policy organization, contributions to which are not tax deductible. The IRS has determined ACL to be a 501(c)(4) organization, exempt from Federal income tax. Contributions to ACL are not subject to FEC regulation or disclosure requirements, and corporate donations are permitted.
